Did you know that June is Adopt -A-Shelter-Cat month? Well, I personally think this could be any time of the year, but it is good to know that, at least in some parts of the world, they are campaigning to raise awareness that the number of abandoned cats (and other furry friends) are increasing in numbers. Though this celebration is mostly in the United States I think it can be easily applied here in lovely New Zealand. We have dedicated and hard working organisations that devote all their time and effort to give these abandoned furry friends a second opportunity. One of them is the Cats Protection League, CPL, in the suburb of Kingston, Wellington. At CPL they work really hard, relying on donations, but with much love to provide the attention that each fluffy friend needs.
CPL is also operating an Op Shop on 60 Kingsford Smith Street, Lyall Bay (between Bunnings and the beach). Please stop there and you might find a little treasure for home, or perhaps donate something to them. They are open on Saturday and Sunday too!
All my four-legged fluffy babies came from CPL – three are foster cats, but Khensu (in the photo above) is our adopted boy. He doesn’t look like this any more though (this was taken when he arrived) – he’s since put on a bit of weight! But he’s still cute …
What a gorgeous boy!!!
