Pet Photography by Alicia Scott – Wellington Photographer
Pet photography is so much fun! By being a pet photographer I’m lucky to be able to combine my passion for photography with my love of animals. And aren’t our furry babies more than just pets? They are part of the family!
In the past I have had dogs – a beautiful Keeshond (Bo), and two rescue dogs (Dandy and Simoncito) – and until recently I had four shelter cats, who have now all sadly passed away. At the end of 2019 I had great fun fostering six kittens before they were adopted out by SPCA. But at the moment I have just one adorable and demanding young tortoiseshell kitty that we adopted, named Misi – the (now spayed!) mother of those kittens.
Dog photography
They say that dogs are man’s (or woman’s!) best friend! Where would we be without our loyal furry companions? Here are some images of a number of the awesome dogs I’ve had the pleasure of photographing.
Cat photography
Are you a dog person or a cat person? Fortunately I’m both! Apparently, although dogs are more commonly searched for online, cats still rule the Internet due to all those cute cat videos and photos …
Below is a small selection of some of the cute kitties I’ve photographed.
You and your pets
Of course, Fido or Felix don’t have to be the only stars of the show – you can be in the shot too! And pet photos can be taken with their caregivers at play, or at work.
Pet photography sessions
I often find that your beloved pets are more relaxed ‘on location’. Cats might prefer a warm spot indoors, or their favourite place in your garden. Dogs might like to go somewhere they often play and run, such as a local park. And it’s not just about cat photography or dog photography – if you have pets other than cats or dogs, I’m of course very happy to photograph them too!
Send me an email, or give me a call, and we can have a chat about what might work best. Otherwise, you could just fill out the enquiry form on my Contact page for information about my pet photography packages, gift vouchers, and current prices.
And although I’m based in Petone, I provide photographic services in the Wellington, Hutt Valley, Kapiti Coast and Wairarapa regions, as well as throughout New Zealand, and even overseas. For instance, I recently had a great time taking photos for The Diplomatic Dog, which provides dog training in Washington DC.
I’m frequently adding new images of our furry and adorable friends on Instagram. You can see a few of my most recent Instagram pet posts at the bottom of this page. And I love taking photos of dogs and cats on my travels. Some of these kitty images were part of my exhibition – Street Cats of the World – which showed in late 2019 at Neko Ngeru Cat Adoption Café when it was in Petone.
The Outpawed Rescue Trust
I’m very pleased to support fund-raising by the Outpawed Rescue Trust, by taking the images for their 2021 calendar and the 2022 Outpawed calendar. Outpawed protects cats and kittens that have been abused, abandoned or forgotten in the Wellington region and Palmerston North.
Unlike a number of other cat charities, Outpawed does not have a shelter. Cats and kittens stay in the foster homes of volunteers until they are adopted out to their forever homes.
In past years I’ve also helped the fund-raising efforts of Cats Protection Wellington, as I was the photographer and designer of CPW’s calendars for a number of years.
“Alicia these images are fantastic! You have totally captured Chester’s character. I especially love how you took photos of him in his own home (and made my home look beautiful in the process!) You have a wonderful way with animals and I was impressed how quickly Chester took a liking to you. You made him feel relaxed and happy to be the center of attention. Thank you for these very special and treasured photographs.” – Katrina
